Korpiklaani have released their new single, 'Metsälle'.

Taken from the band's latest release, Ukon Wacka, Korpiklaani attempted to 'do a Lordi' with this single, by submitting it for the Eurovision Song Contest. Although they were ultimately unsuccessful in their bid, the song attracted plenty of attention and this was one reason for the decision to release it as a single. The song describes a hunt scene from the Kalevala, the national epic of Finland, where the character Lemminkäinenputs on his charmed skis and takes off for a prolonged hunt through forests and meadows, marshlands and woodlands, rapids and rivers”.

American one-man-band Swordbearer have announced the release of new album Honor, due for release this Thursday, December 22nd exclusively through iTunes. A new song from the album, 'Where Mountains Meet the Sky', has also been released on YouTube.

Dutch band Chain of Dogs, named after Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series of fantasy books, are set to begin recording their next EP, the follow up to their 2010 LP Gebroake, Gehange en Gewroake.

Following on from last week's announcement, Eluveitie have released further details about their upcoming album, Helvetios. In a teaser video released on YouTube, frontman Chigrel Glanzmann has revealed that the new album will be a concept alum about the Helvetii tribe that inhabited most of what is now Switzerland during the 1st Century BC, who warred with the advancing Roman army of Julius Caesar.


Another band who have released teaser material this week are Slough Feg, who have posted a 15-minute preview of their upcoming live release Made in Poland on YouTube. Consisting of excerpts from all 13 tracks the appear on the 70-minute CD, due for release on December 20th through Polish store Megadisc.

Meanwhile, Finntroll side project The Iniquity Descent, featuring Mathias 'Vreth' Lillmåns on vocals, have signed with Massacre Records.
